Mail & Freebie Talk: Jewelry, Cosmetic Bags, lip gloss, AIRPLANE TICKETS, and more!

I've been receiving a lot of good mail for the past few weeks. Here are some of my favorite freebies I've recently received.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with the clothing and accessory line Bebe. They have created a new division of stores called PH8 which is pronounced fate. On PH8's twitter (@PH8_Stores) they had a contest where whoever took a picture inside a PH8 store wearing PH8 clothing could get a chance to win some prizes. Since there is a PH8 store at a mall close to me I decided it wouldn't hurt to try. I took some pictures and submitted it to PH8's twitter. I ended up winning the contest and I won a bunch of cute PH8 jewelry. The prizes included three necklaces and three bracelet cuffs.

Thanks to the Purse Forum I am familiar with most of the greatest handbag designers. Botkier is a brand that is very popular among celebrities like High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens. Back in 2008, Botkier even had a line at Target and I was able to get a rose satchel from there. I don't own a high end leather Botkier yet but hopefully in the future I can buy one.

On Botkier's twitter (@botkierbags) in December they were giving away cosmetic bags to a few lucky followers. I happened to be one of those lucky followers. I won my choice of either a silver or burgundy cosmetic bag. I picked silver.

Since I'm on the topic of cosmetic bags I received another one on Saturday January 23rd via Fedex. In November 2009, Allure magazine was giving away 500 Alicia Silverstone Ecotools cosmetic bags to the first 500 people to sign up at their website. I remember in 6th and 7th grade I absolutely loved Alicia Silverstone. She was one of my favorite actresses. Her role as Cher in Clueless is timeless and classic.

I was pleasantly surprised when I got to see the cosmetic bag in person. In the pictures I've seen of it online, it appears to be flat but it's not. It can hold a lot of essentials inside. Alicia is very caring about the environment so the cosmetic bag is made of natural hemp material and the lining is made of recycled plastic. I also love the flower design on it.

I of course need some cosmetics to put into these cosmetic bags. Through DermStore's Twitter (@DermStore) I found out they were giving away Jane Iredale Chocoholicks lip glosses on their blog ( These lip glosses are worth $44.00 on the Jane Iredale website and they're currently sold out! All I had to do was leave a comment on the blog telling them what's my favorite dessert which are red velvet cupcakes from Sprinkles!

The lip glosses come in four delicious flavors: truffle, caramel, strawberry cream, and chocolate orange. Upon opening the box my nostrils are filled with their delightful smell.

Now that I have some jewelry and makeup I need some place to go to show off what I got. Around October 2009, I put a ton of entries into My Coke Rewards' Delta Airlines Escape for Two Sweepstakes. To be exact I put 1,575 entries into this sweepstakes. There were 9 prizes which consisted of 2 plane tickets given to each winner. On November 23rd, My Coke Rewards held a drawing and I happened to be one of the 9 winners! I can fly to any of the 48 states, Canada, Mexico, or the Caribbean. If Backstreet Boys tour in any of those locations before the plane tickets expire I plan to use the tickets to see them in concert. I received the plane ticket vouchers on Thursday January 21st via Fedex. I hope Backstreet Boys announce their North American dates soon!

Speaking of Backstreet Boys I nearly had a heart attack when I received a tweet from their official twitter (@backstreetboys) that the first 100 people to enter a code on their fanclub website would receive a free 1 year membership to their fan club.

For about 2 minutes I couldn't figure out where to put the darn code. It was driving me crazy! I kept clicking everywhere on the site but I couldn't find the place to enter the code. They tweeted again that there were only 50 left and I thought if I didn't figure out where to enter the code I wouldn't get a membership.

I decided to start from the beginning so I go back to the original tweet that had the link on where to go. I then scrolled down and found the place to enter the code. Silly me, if I had only scrolled down the first time around I could have saved myself a few minutes of panic. I entered the code and thankfully made it in time to get a free 1 year membership! Getting a free membership to the fan club means so much to me because it's so expensive! My membership had expired in October 2009 but I didn't bother to renew it. One year of membership approximately costs $45.00 so I'm glad I could save money.

On Twitter I found out BuddyTV (@BuddyTV) was giving away Volume 3 of The Secret Life of the American Teenager to 5 winners. That show happens to be one of my favorites so I had to enter. I found out on January 20th that I won and on January 25th I received the DVD set in the mail.

Let's just imagine that I'm done watching The Secret Life of the American Teenager DVD's and I need something to do. A few months ago Harlequin was having a Instant Win Sweepstakes to promote their latest book aimed towards teenagers entitled Intertwined. I won a copy of Intertwined and it looks like an interesting read. I know I'm not a teenager anymore but I'm still open to reading teen oriented books.

Whew! That was quite a bunch of mail to go through! I love it though and I hope to receive much more goodies!

Super Saturday Savings

Saturday was a wonderful freebie day for me and my family. January 16th was my parents' wedding anniversary. They've been married for 28 years! I wanted to make sure we could celebrate this momentous occasion while saving tons of money at the same time.

My mom really wanted to watch the new Jackie Chan movie "The Spy Next Door." I had 4 movie tickets which I won from Coke's Twist Txt Get promotion. If I had to pay, the 4 movie tickets would have cost $39.25 but thanks to Coke I paid nothing.

I had a total of $50 in gift cards to California Pizza Kitchen that I bought with two $25 Mastercard's also from Coke's Twist Txt Get promotion. I decided to take my parents and my cousin there after we watched the movie. My mom loves California Pizza Kitchen's Thai Crunch Salad. Plus I had a "Be our guest" coupon for any free entree and drink that I got from a segment producer when I used to work at "The View from the Bay."

I used the coupon to get one of the most expensive entrees on the menu which was the "Blue Crab Cakes" that cost $17.79 plus the drink was $2.49. That coupon saved me $20.28. We ordered one Pepperoni Pizza, one Thai Crunch Salad, one Blue Crab Cakes for my mom (because she likes to copy me), three soda's and one twisted colada for me. The total for all the food was $63.64. With the $50 gift card we only had to pay $13.64 for the dinner. (Don't worry we didn't forget to tip the server. He was such a delicious looking server.)

After we ate, I wanted to drop by Victoria's Secret. I had another $10 off any purchase coupon that I wanted to use. I got two lotions, one PINK soap, and one tube of PINK shaving cream. The price of each item was $2.50! Plus there was an in store promotion going on where if you buy a PINK item you get a free PINK dog so I got one. I got 5 items for FREE!

Here's a shot of my Victoria's Secret freebies:

Let's recap:

Without coupons & gift cards this is the cash value of everything:

Value of Spy Next Door Movie Tickets: $39.25
Value of California Pizza Kitchen Dinner: $83.92
Value of Victoria's Secret Beauty Products: $10.00
Total: $133.17

With coupons & gift cards:

Spy Next Door Movie Tickets: Free
California Pizza Kitchen Dinner: $13.64
Victoria's Secret Beauty Products: Free
Total: $13.64

$133.17-$13.64=$119.53 savings!

Now that's what I call Super Saturday Savings!

Giveaway Alert: Sweeps4Bloggers - Yak Pak Nobu Handbag Giveaway – 3 Winners – Ends 1/23/10

is giving 3 lucky winners a free Yak Pak Nobu handbag. It's very adorable and looks great for everyday use. I would love to add the Nobu to my handbag collection.

Here's what Sweeps4Bloggers says about the bag:

The bohemian inspired Nobu bag is oh so cute! It’s a sturdy cotton twill on the outside and a shiny satin inside. The magnetic snap works well and I love that it has a zippered pocket and an open cell phone pocket for easy access. It’s very lightweight (less than a pound) and looks good holding a few things or when I’ve got it filled with bulkier items. It’s approx. 14″ high and 14″ wide – big enough and strong enough to hold books and my other necessities. I like the dark background and bright colors of my bag, but they also have some other fun prints.

Lovin' Linea Pelle

On September 16th, 2009 I won a prize from Linea Pelle's "Be a Celebrity Experience" contest. The prize was a bracelet which arrived on December 31st, 2009. The prize that arrived is more a cuff than a bracelet but either way it's a cute accessory. What I think adds to the cute factor is the dust bag the cuff comes with.

There's a fabulous promotion currently running on Linea Pelle's Facebook page. People who take a picture with any of their Linea Pelle products (such as belts, bags, bracelets, purse lights, wallets, etc.) get the opportunity to receive a FREE GIFT!

I had to take advantage of this since I am a brand new owner of a Linea Pelle bracelet. On Saturday, January 9th, 2010, I took a picture of me wearing the bracelet and holding the dust bag.

On Monday, January 11th, 2010, I received a message on Facebook from Linea Pelle thanking me for posting the picture. They asked for my shipping info so they could send me a free gift!

I was expecting the gift to come either in a few weeks or next month but to my surprise it arrived today via Fedex. I opened up the box and was met with the signature zebra print Linea Pelle tissue paper. Underneath the tissue paper was a zebra print dust bag with a gorgeous bracelet inside.

This gift from Linea Pelle is definitely more than I expected. It's very rare that a company can be so generous.

Out of curiosity, I visited the Linea Pelle website to see if the bracelet was being sold at their online shop. It turns out the bracelet's official name is "Skinny Double-wrap Round Pyramid Stud Bracelet." The bracelet retailed for $55.00 but it's currently 25% off so the price is $41.25.

What makes the bracelet even more special is it was featured in the "Get the look for under $100" feature in the February 2009 issue of Marie Claire's magazine.

I like how the bracelet fits and feels around my wrist. I'll definitely rock it when I go out. Doesn't it look fabulous?

I don't own a Linea Pelle bag yet but I hope to in the future. I need to save my pennies first ;) But if any of you are feeling generous here are the bags that are on my wish list:

Kim Kardashian with the Dylan Medium Tote

Vanessa Hudgens with the Dylan Zip Tote

Mail Talk

My first thought everyday when I wake up from sleeping is "I hope get a lot of mail today." I love it when I receive a lot of goodies in the mail. I always hope that I'll receive a good freebie or a surprise win. I get so much joy when I see either the UPS truck or Fedex truck parked in front of my house.

I've decided that I'll occasionally post about freebies or prizes I get in the mail. It's a way for me to keep track of what I get. So much has come into my mailbox since I've started signing up for freebies, sweepstakes, and contests. When I have time, I'd like to eventually take a picture of all the goodies I've received in the mail to show that it is possible to win.

My philosophy is it only takes one entry into a contest or sweepstakes. There's been contests where I've only entered once or twice and I ended up winning (ex. iPod Touch). There's also been contests where I've entered daily and I've lost (ex. Coke's Holiday Giveaway where they were giving away 50 DJ Hero/Guitar Hero games.)

On Saturday I received a pleasant surprise in the mail. I opened up a big envelope and found an Ardell Lashes (@ardell_lashes) Starter kit #110. I found out that I won the lash kit from entering the August 2009 Allure Magazine Free Stuff giveaway. (I've received TONS of beauty products from entering Allure giveaways.)

I've never worn false eyelashes before so I look forward to giving Ardell Lashes a try. I've heard having long eye lashes really opens up the eyes.

To enter follow this link:

This is the publisher's description:

Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters expands the original text of the beloved Jane Austen novel with all-new scenes of giant lobsters, rampaging octopi, two-headed sea serpents, and other biological monstrosities. As our story opens, the Dashwood sisters are evicted from their childhood home and sent to live on a mysterious island full of savage creatures and dark secrets. While sensible Elinor falls in love with Edward Ferrars, her romantic sister Marianne is courted by both the handsome Willoughby and the hideous man-monster Colonel Brandon. Can the Dashwood sisters triumph over meddlesome matriarchs and unscrupulous rogues to find true love? Or will they fall prey to the tentacles that are forever snapping at their heels? This masterful portrait of Regency England blends Jane Austen’s biting social commentary with ultraviolent depictions of sea monsters biting. It’s survival of the fittest-and only the swiftest swimmers will find true love!

Day 1 of Eliminate Full Price

It feels great to kick off 2010 with a new blog. The concept of "Eliminate Full Price" came to me in December when I realized I rarely pay full price. I do my best to research ways on how to save as much money as possible.

In April 2009, I discovered the world of entering contests and sweepstakes. I've received plenty of items I normally wouldn't have paid full price for.

An example is my favorite win of 2009 which was an iPod touch I won from a fabulous company named Gliffik.

Prior to winning the iPod touch I know I wouldn't have paid full price for it.

I've also noticed that whenever I go shopping I usually check to see if there are any coupons I can use. Victoria's Secret is an example of a store that has been generous to me in the coupon department.

In December, Victoria's Secret PINK had a contest where they were giving away 10,000 $10 off any purchase coupons. I was fortunate enough to win a coupon. I used it today when I went to Stanford Shopping Centre. It just happened to be their Semi-Annual sale. I was able to get 2 tubes of shaving cream that are normally worth $10.00 each for $2.50 each! I also got one panty that went from $7.50 to $3.99. The total for the 3 items was $9.82 but I didn't pay for anything because of that $10 off coupon I had.

That's it for now and I hope you continue to follow my journey on "Eliminate Full Price".
